The Cheetah and the Dragon

The dragon guarded her cave.

The magical cheetah watched. The cheetah knew there were dragon babies inside the cave. The cheetah was very curious about the babies because he had never seen dragon babies before but he thought the dragon was acting weird.

The dragon was quite elegant with its beautiful blue wings and its shiny gold scales and the ivory colored horns.

A long time ago, the cheetah had been friends with the dragon and he knew how soft the dragon’s scales were. The dragon was roaring and fire spewed from her mouth, crackling loudly.

From within the cave, the cheetah heard the babies playing. He heard squeals and scuffling. He thought they were having fun.

The cheetah thought the dragon smelled exactly like rotten eggs. That was strange too because she had never smelled like rotten eggs before.

Suddenly the dragon turned tail and ran inside the cave. How weird! She was acting scared of the cheetah. But why?

While he pondered this question, he took another big bite of the dead bear at his side. Man, that bear was yummy-just like the best tasting hair in the world.

He decided to confront the dragon about her weird behavior. He crouched low to the ground and crawled silently toward the cave. As he crept closer the cave shrouded him in darkness. He saw a flicker of light probably coming from the dragon’s fire. He made it to the cave’s entrance.

Just then, a huge storm hit with wild lashes of lightning and monstrous booming. The cheetah was terrified. His hair stood on end. He bolted into the cave to get away from the storm.

Immediately, the dragon grabbed all her babies with her claws and her mouth and ran for the darkest recesses of the cave.

What the heck? She was still running away as if she was afraid.

The cheetah ran after her, calling, “Wait!”

The dragon stopped. Even though the dragon was in total darkness, the cheetah could still see her and all the babies.

From outside the cave, the cheetah heard a bear’s roar. What could that mean? Then he saw the silhouette of a giant bear in the entrance of the cave. He knew without a doubt that it was the very same bear he had been eating for lunch. How could that be? It must have been the lightning that brought the bear back to life.

The bear approached and the cheetah and dragon were terrified. Nothing could be scarier than an animal brought back to life. The cheetah decided to try to make friends the bear.

He took a step forward and said, “Take a chill pill, dude. We’re all friends here.”

The bear paused. He considered the cheetah’s words. “That’s cool,” he said. “We can be friends.”

The cheetah breathed a great sigh of relief, but then he felt starved. He had never felt this hungry before. Was it some backlash from having his lunch come back to life?

He pounced on one of the playing babies and yelled, “Get back,” to everyone in the cave.

He felt an overwhelming desire to eat the baby dragon.

From out of nowhere, another baby dragon flew at the cheetah. He kicked him with his sharp claws in the cheek. One of cheetah’s teeth flew out and he dropped the baby dragon in his mouth.

“NOBODY MESSES WITH MY BRO!!!” the baby dragon yelled.

The mama dragon quickly collected her babies and flew out of the cave.

Then an army of people arrived and captured the cheetah and the legendary bear. The cheetah and the bear clawed the net around them, desperate to escape. But the net was too strong. The people carted them away to prison.

The cheetah continued to plot his escape….

The “Cliffhanger” End.
