Fred and the Dragon

The dragon guarded her cave. The boy watched. The boy’s name was Fred. He had never seen this dragon before. In fact, he had never even seen a dragon before.

The dragon was huge. She was fiery red with orange scales. She had to be at least ten feet tall. Her wings were tiny. On the right wing, Fred spotted a pink dolphin tattoo. While the wings were small for the dragon’s size, Fred still thought the dragon would be able to fly. Her scales looked rough to the touch but her belly was squishy.  Fred thought he could poke it if he got close, but that was a scary thought.

The dragon stank. She smelled like burning rubber in the hot summer sun. He thought the smell was coming from the loud farts that the dragon was emitting.  Fred thought the farts were because she had just consumed a small child.  That could not have tasted good. How disgusting.

Fred ran. He ran all the way to his ship. He tried to set sail. Suddenly, another dragon swooped down and caught him with his claws. This dragon had a blue dolphin tattoo. It must be the husband!

They started to fly back to the cave. Fred fought for his life. He broke free and plummeted to the ground. He landed hard but was able to stand and run.  Then seven lions surrounded him. OMG!  Now what was he to do?  He turned around and ran again.  This time toward the cave.

Suddenly, the male dragon swooped again. This time he swallowed Fred whole. YUCK!  It smelled disgusting, horrible, gross – like wet dogs. Slimy, hot stuff surrounded him. So gross. But then, a blue fairy with fly wings appeared.

“Take this magic dagger,” she said.

Fred took it and cut his way out of the dragon’s belly. He fell to the ground and ran. Back to his ship!  Thank goodness the lions were gone.

He jumped aboard. “We must set  sail!”

The captain did as Fred asked and listened to Fred’s tale. There was something in the captain’s expression that made Fred think that he knew something about the dragon. After a long time, they landed.

The captain told Fred they were on an island and asked him to climb the mountain and see what was there. Fred climbed. Much to his surprise when he looked over the cliff he found out that he was back at the cave, now on top of it with both dragons below.

All of a sudden he felt heat on his back. It burned. He looked around and saw a weyvern dragon. It was trying to barbeque him.  In shock, he stumbled backward, dropping his magic dagger and tumbling off the cliff. He landed on an actual barbeque – staring at two giant dragons.

OH NO, he thought.

The girl dragon swallowed him whole.  Inside her yucky stomach he found the other child. It was a boy. Then the enchanted dagger magically appeared. Fred grabbed the boy, and using the dagger, he cut them free. Fred and the boy climbed the cave. They captured the weyvern dragon using the magic dagger and forced it to take them away. They flew.

The male dragon bellowed. “We were trying to be friendly. Now you’ve made us mad.”

Then Fred felt something strange happen. There was a loud poof and he turned into a girl with long hair with long hair and pink fingernails.  Oh no! …
