The dragon guarded her cave. Marzipan the dog, watched. She knew that the dragon guarded a magic wand. Marzipan had been spying on the dragon for awhile. All she knew was that the wand was very magical. That made her very worried. What was the dragon up to?
The dragon was just a little smaller than Marzipan who as a husky was a pretty big dog. The dragon was shiny blue. She had spikes all over her body. Her wingspan was about the same size as her body. Her wings were also shiny blue. Marzipan thought the dragon looked dry and rough to the touch unlike her with her soft, beautiful fur. The dragon stunk like a skunk—pee-uu!
The dragon was very still and quiet. Marzipan knew she had been seen. Marzipan’s heart raced. What was the dragon going to do next? What might she do with that magic wand?
She chewed nervously on her favorite bone. The yummy taste of bacon made her happy despite the scary dragon with the scary wand. Marzipan decided that she had to steal that wand because she couldn’t trust the dragon. What if she used it for evil?
Fortunately, Marzipan was no simple husky. In fact, she could fly! She leapt into the air and zoomed over the cave, looking for another way in. She found a hole on the top of the cave and dived inside. The cave was dark but her eyes quickly adjusted.
The first thing she saw was the wand—a magician’s wand—made out of black crystal. She rushed to the wand and managed to pick it up with her paw and wedge it into her collar. She flew out through the hole in the roof. The dragon spotted her.
She flapped away. The dragon followed. Marzipan looked over her shoulder. The dragon was getting closer. Suddenly she flew into a tree. Bam. Ouch. As she fell, she told herself not to cry. She would be brave. She landed in a pile of leaves.
The dragon breathed blue fire at Marzipan. Whew—she missed.
Boy did Marzipan need help. She barked and barked. “Help me,” she barked. Ten huskies flew to her aid.
But then fifteen dragons appeared in the sky. How did the dragon call them? The dragons and the huskies battled on the ground.
Marzipan fought too but she was afraid someone would steal the wand so she quickly ate it. Wow, she could breathe rainbow flames. She had magical powers!
Then she felt something odd in her stomach. The wand began to grow. Sparkles started to come out of her. And POOF she turned into a small and black dragon. Then POOF, the rest of the dogs turned into dragons—each a different color.
The real dragons took one look at the husky dragons and they turned tail and flew away. Marzipan realized that they, the Husky dragons, were all bigger than the real dragons. It was sort of cool being a dragon—and, best of all, she had saved everyone by swallowing the magic wand!
The End.
