The dragon guarded his cave. Cow watched. He wondered what the dragon guarded.
The dragon was enormous – at least one million cows big, and he was a very dark red. The dragon was hairy. He had long, green hair covering his body. His hair teemed with huge lice – each one at least the size of a rock. The dragon kept itching and itching. Cow wanted to throw up. The lice were gross. The dragon spit fire – blue fire. In fact, he seemed to be trying to burn his own lice-ridden fur.
Cow couldn’t blame him. He’d want to get rid of the lice too. Cow thought it might hurt to touch the dragon. Not only was his hair coarse and spiky, but he also had real spikes all over. Still cow wanted to touch those spikes. They were gold, and he loved gold – so very much!
The dragon smelled delightful – just like a cow’s fart!
The ground around the cave shook. Cow thought it was because the dragon was roaring. It was so loud – at least a million times louder than anything cow could have imagined. It made him feel a little crazy because it was just too loud, but he was brave and he could put up with the noise.
Cow was hungry. He decided to munch on some grass while he thought about how to sneak into the cave. The grass was sweet and bitter just the way he liked it. He loved the taste of grass. Yum!!
Huzzah! Cow had a brilliant idea. He would build a catapult and he would fling himself over the dragon and to the cave entrance. Then he could sneak in. He built the catapult. Then attempted to fling himself.
Oh-no! The catapult crumbled.
He needed a new plan. He disguised himself as a goat. He didn’t think dragons liked goats. Sure enough when he approached, the dragon cringed away. Cow walked straight into the cave.
It was brightly lit. Cow saw that the light came from glowing snot. He thought it was dragon snot. The main cavern was empty except for walls of graffiti and posters. Cow thought they looked like something a tiger might draw. He went deeper into the cave following the path to the right. It led to another large space which was empty and a dead end.
He returned and tried another path. It led to a room full of pots – large pots. He investigated. Some were filled with wondrous gold, others were filled with terrible snakes.
Gold and snakes? What a surprise!
He wanted the gold. He used his special cow magic to create a truck. He loaded the gold into the truck.
Suddenly, the dragon arrived. “You aren’t a goat! You are a cow! What are you doing with my pots?”
“Hey – you look like a guy dragon but you sound like a girl,” said Cow.
“Duh – of course I’m a girl!”
Cow was very surprised.
Suddenly something rose out of one of his gold pots. Oh no! It was a gold snake.
“Haha!” said dragon. “That snake is poisonous and I don’t think she likes you!”
Cow was very much afraid that she was right!
The “Cliffhanger” End.
