Albus Potter and the Dragon

The dragon guarded his cave. Albus Potter watched.  Albus did not know what the dragon guarded.  He desperately wanted to know.

The dragon was as humongous as a mountain.  He was light blue and lime green.  He had curved barbs on his neck, back, and tail.  They looked very dangerous! But even though they looked dangerous, they also strangely looked as if they could be made out of crushed lemon drops. There were also spikes all over the dragon. They covered his back and his head.  Only his belly was spike-free.

Albus thought it would hurt to touch the dragon.  It would hurt a lot.  And his scales looked very hard.

The dragon smelled disgusting, like toxic gas!

The dragon was growling and because it was a loud growl and he was near the cave, it echoed all over!

Albus was sure that the dragon had seen him.  Uh-oh!

In between loud growls, the dragon ate a small mouse.  Ick, thought Albus.  Eating a mouse would be like eating bones and flesh.  He thought that would taste terrible.

Albus did a magical spell to kill the dragon, but it didn’t work! Still Albus had to get into that cave.  He had to know what the dragon guarded.

He decided to distract the dragon with food.  He conjured up a heap of mice and threw one after another away from the cave.  He hoped the dragon would follow, but the dragon didn’t budge.

He grabbed the sword of Gryffindor and attacked.  He gashed the dragon but did not kill him.  Still he was injured enough for Albus to slip into the cave.

The cave was pitch dark.  He couldn’t see a thing.  As his eyes adjusted he saw a mound of mice bones.  He heard the dragon coming after him.  He ran deeper into the cave.  He saw a small path and ran to it.  Far in the distance, he saw a glowing blue flame.

He moved toward it and tripped over something.  It was a beautiful diamond pendant! Aha!  It had to be that famous pendant that granted wishes.  He thought he should test it. “Make the world fall into chaos,” he said.  “For just a month.”

But suddenly, the dragon was there, and he ripped the pendant away.

“You have no business owning this pendant that was a terrible wish. Bring peace to the world,” the dragon cried.  And the chaos was reversed.

The dragon put Albus in a cell.  Albus was very sad because he wanted that pendant.  However, when the dragon fell asleep, Albus was able to magic himself out of the cell.  He snuck out.  Outside the cave, he attempted to build his own diamond pendant.  Once he had an excellent replica, he snuck back into the cave and switched the pendants.  He knew now that the pendant was too dangerous.  It had to be destroyed, but nothing he tried worked!  It had to be a horecrux. Nearly impossible to destroy.

But he had the sword of Gryffindor.  He suspected that the dragon had put his soul into the horecrux.

He destroyed the pendant with his sword!

Did that mean that the dragon was dead?  He had no idea, but was determined to find out. He started walking toward the cave.

The “Cliffhanger” End.
