The Avatar and the Dragon

The dragon guarded her cave.  Neytiri, the avatar, watched. The dragon’s name was Stormfly.  Neytiri had met this dragon before.  But she had no idea what the dragon was guarding.

Stormfly was at least fifty times bigger than Neytiri.  She was sky blue with a splatter of red dots.  The dragon’s wings were each sixty feet long, and they were a dark black. The dragon had hundreds of horns all over her body.

Neytiri had never touched the dragon.  She thought Stormfly would feel very hard – her skin, her horns, her wings.

Stormfly stank – like dirty armpits.  Ewwwwww!

Neytiri ate a handful of berries.  They were so sour.  Yummm!  She loved the taste of sour.  She ate more berries.  Their smell overrode the odor of stinky armpits.

Now that she could think again, she was determined to get into the cave.  She called a camouflage taxi that could cloak itself so that the dragon couldn’t see it.

She hopped in and said, “Drive me straight  into the cave.”

The taxi driver was an elephant.  “Sure thing,” he said.  “By the way, my name is Bob.”

“Nice to meet you, Bob,” said Neytiri.

They barreled toward the cave, but just as they reached the entrance the dragon shifted to block the cave.  The taxi hit the dragon and bounced off.

Boing! Boing! Boing!

Whoa, thought Neytiri.  The dragon wasn’t hard.  In fact, she had to be squishy.

Stormfly must have sensed us, thought Neytiri.  She got out of the taxi.

Bob yelled, “Later gator!” and zoomed off.

Neytiri said, “Hello Stormfly.  I’m very curious.  What are you guarding?”

“Hey Neytiri!  What’s up?  I’m guarding my eggs.  I have five!”

Neytiri was a little confused by her reaction, but she was actually really happy about Stormfly’s news.  “Wow!  That’s cool!”

Suddenly a big fat unicorn waddled up to them.  “Ha!  My name’s Eucalyptus.  I want your eggs.  I’m going to sell them!  Give them to me!”

Neytiri felt faint.  She saw Stormfly collapse and then she saw nothing.

Slowly, Neytiri woke up.  Stormfly lay next to her.  She looked up and saw Eucalyptus flying on a cloud in the sky.

Eucalyptus laughed.  “Hahahahaha – I have the eggs!”

Neytiri quickly shook Stormfly awake.  “Come on!” she said.

She jumped onto the dragon and they raced after the cloud.  Neytiri shot fire at the cloud, which made it sink. Then she shot ice at Eucalyptus, which froze the unicorn.  Fortunately, the eggs were safe and not frozen next to Eucalyptus.

Neytiri grabbed the eggs and leaped back onto Stormfly.  They quickly returned to the cave.  Stormfly was so grateful, she gave Neytiri one of her precious eggs!

Suddenly, there was a whooshing noise at the cave entrance.  Neytiri looked out and saw big unicorn bones falling from the sky.  They landed with a loud clatter.

“Yay!” thought Neytiri.

The End.
