The dragon guarded her cave. Zachary, the young man, watched. Who was this dragon? And why was she guarding the cave?
The dragon was huge–at least three times as big as he was. Also, she was a dark blue tinged with green. The dragon was stacked on top of herself to form a wall in front of the cave. Weirdly, she did not have wings. He had never seen a wingless dragon before. She looked a lot like a serpent. Her skin looked as if it would be as rough as sandpaper. The dragon smelled of roses! He sniffed the air. She had to be the best smelling dragon ever!
She was fast asleep and snoring very loudly. It hurt his ear drums. Zachary took a bite out of his granola bar. He loved its yummy, chewy, fruity taste. As he chewed, the dragon woke up. She opened her eyes and stared straight at him. Zachary decided to charge at the dragon and attempt to run straight through her. He ran!
He hit her hard and somehow blasted right through her. But on the other side, he collapsed! Uh-oh! He felt so weird. It didn’t hurt. In fact, he felt nothing at all, which was kind of cool. He liked it, but he had a very bad feeling that his neck might be broken.
Suddenly there was a loud poof! A fairy appeared. “Oh my,” she said. “You have a broken neck.” She waved her wand and fixed it.
He jumped up.
Just then, the dragon poked her head into the cave. She growled and then snapped at Zachary! He realized that she seemed more irritated than angry.
“I’m sorry,” he said. “I’ll leave your cave right now. But before I go, can you tell me what you are guarding? I’m so curious!”
The dragon didn’t answer. Instead, she snapped at him again! Uh oh! She wanted to eat him! Now what? He had to run. He slammed past the dragon and backed out of the cave.
“Big Fluffy Unicorn! Where are you? Save me!”
The unicorn appeared as if by magic. “Come fly with me!” They rushed off.
Soon the dragon followed in a car! How did she get a car? She must have bought it! Huh!
“Hey, the dragon is following us,” he told the unicorn. “We have to find Bilbo!”
They found Gollum first and asked him to tell them where the hobbit was. After that they convinced Bilbo to lend them The Ring. Then they rushed back to the cave. The whole time, the dragon drove after them.
“It doesn’t matter,” said Zachary.
He put on the ring, went invisible and snuck into the cave. That’s when he saw that the only thing in the cave was a small pile of food! The dragon stomped outside the cave.
“Uh oh!” Zachary said.
Even though he wore the ring that should make him invincible, he shook with fear. He was tired of adventure. He pulled out his cell phone and called his mom.
“Please come get me! Please! Right Now!”
The dragon stomped closer…
The “To Be Continued” End.
