Peter and the Dragon

The dragon guarded his cave. A boy watched. His name was Peter.

The dragon was huge – at least 100 feet long. He was dark blue. He had two sharp horns and very sharp talons. His wings were folded, but Peter could tell they were huge too. They were blue also, dark near the bones, but a lighter blue where the wings stretched out. Peter thought the dragon’s snout and belly might be soft, but the rest of the dragon was covered in rough scales, similar to a fish, only way bigger.

Peter thought the dragon smelled wonderful–like pineapple and mango. So sweet. The dragon, being huge was also noisy. He made loud scratching noises and was constantly blowing air, so that it sounded like wind.

Peter took another bite of the spaghetti and meatballs his mom had packed for him. He made a face. He did not like them, but he was hungry. He didn’t like the sweetness of the tomato sauce. He preferred his food to be more sour. Peter put the spaghetti back in his backpack and readied himself for action. He would belly crawl under the dragon’s legs, into the cave and see what the dragon guarded. He crawled. He made it all the way to the cave entrance without the dragon noticing. He couldn’t yell woo-hoo for fear of being heard, so he yelled it in his head instead. Woohoo! At the entrance, he had a new thought. He would like to trap the dragon so that he could sell him.  A dragon would have to be worth more than anything he actually guarded.  Peter pulled out his spaghetti and meatballs again and threw it at the dragon’s feet to tangle him up. The dragon roared. Uh-oh! Peter had the feeling that the dragon was irritated. Especially when he turned and glared at Peter as if Peter was a small ant he wanted to crush. Peter froze.

Suddenly, Thanos arrived. Ta Da! “I will smite you with a sleeping potion,” he shouted at the dragon. He shot him and the dragon collapsed and began to snore. Then Thanos shouted at Peter, “Come, my boy! We shall enter the cave!”

They entered the cave. There was a huge pile of dragon eggs! They glistened like gold.

“Aha” yelled Thanos. “I declare those eggs to be mine!” He turned to Peter and shot him with the same sleeping potion that he’d used on the dragon.

Slowly, Peter awoke from a strange fog. He was still in the cave, but Thanos and the eggs were gone. And the huge dragon loomed over him.

“Whoa, what happened,” he asked the dragon.

“I am ready for lunch,” the dragon said.

Peter could tell the dragon meant he was lunch. Peter began to cry. Then he yelled, “I am inevitable. I won’t let you eat me!”

Peter whipped out his cell phone and called his mom. “A huge dragon is trying to eat me! Save me, mommy! Save me!”

Suddenly, the mom appeared out of thin air. “You can’t steal my baby!” She punched the dragon in his snout.

The dragon high-tailed it away…never to be seen again.

The End.
