The Robber and the Dragon

The dragon guarded her cave. John, the robber, watched. John knew that the dragon guarded golden dragon eggs. Once those eggs hatched, there would be magical dragons. If he stole the eggs, he could own a whole bunch of magical dragons that would do his bidding.

The dragon was gigantic. She was dark blue. Her eyes were strange with red irises. She had very smooth skin and a long tail that spread out in big bumps – like ocean waves. Her smooth skin looked as if it would be slimy and squishy to the touch.

The dragon gave off the wonderful smell of poo, just like the smell of John’s home.

John, the robber, knew he had been seen because the dragon was sticking out her forked tongue and hissing very loudly at him. His whole body shook from fear. She was huge and menacing. In addition, between hisses, the dragon was eating rotten human flesh from a big pot. This did not look promising.

Suddenly, the dragon lunged for the robber. John screamed and screamed and ran. He ran as fast as he could and ducked behind the cave. The dragon couldn’t seem to find him. While she searched, he tiptoed into the cave.

The cave was dark and murky. It was a cavernous chamber with stairs that led somewhere. He pulled out a torch and lit it. At that moment, an even larger dragon appeared from the corner of the chamber. It must be the dad. The large daddy dragon lumbered around the cave, grabbing dragon eggs and setting them in a large nest. He then sat in front of the nest.

The robber made his move. He shoved his torch at the daddy dragon, trying to scare him away. The dragon didn’t seem scared. In fact, John thought the dragon got mad. The daddy dragon blew a large whoosh of fire at him. The robber quickly ducked and the fire flew over him but some of his hair caught fire then quickly went out. He wondered if he now had a bald spot. Darn, this was not going well.

John ran for the cave entrance. Then he remembered his magic sword. He pulled it out and brandished his sword at the dragon. This was a very powerful weapon. He rammed the sword into the dragon’s back. When the dragon fell over in pain, John grabbled the eggs and threw them in his sack. He ran for the entrance to the cave. The mama dragon saw him, but she heard her husband screaming in pain and ran to help. The robber was grateful she didn’t yet know he had stolen her eggs. But she obviously quickly found out because she bellowed from the cave and lumbered back toward the robber.

She caught him and they fought. He used his sword but she was a very angry mom. Finally with all his strength he pushed her off a tall cliff. She toppled but managed to catch her claws on the edge. She hung there, too injured to fly…

The “Cliffhanger” End.
