The Alien and the Bartender

The alien stood by its spaceship. Shawn, the bartender, watched. It was Bob, the alien. Bob was carrying a ton of gold in its spaceship. Gold for Shawn. Bob paid Shawn a lot of gold so that Shawn would tour him around Earth.

Bob always reminded Shawn of a piece of Dutch Apple Pie with tiny feet at the bottom and giant arms. Bob’s ship looked like a huge, smooth, flat, skipping rock with gigantic engines on the back end. Shawn knew that Bob was gooey, and if he touched it his hand would be sucked into all that goo. This was something he would rather avoid, but he knew it was a sign of Bob’s friendship. At some point he would have to touch it.

Bob’s wonderful aroma was that of frog guts. Shawn breathed in deeply.  He loved the way Bob smelled. In welcome, Shawn had given Bob a large glass of sarsaparilla. Bob was guzzling it. Shawn really hated the combination of root beer and licorice that sarsaparilla tasted of. But he knew Bob loved it and looked forward to the welcome ritual.

Shawn said, “Bob, I am taking you to my favorite restaurant.”

They went.

When they arrived at Shawn’s favorite hamburger joint, Shawn told the hostess, “My friend just came from a costume party, and he has nothing to change into.”

They sat in a booth. Or rather, Bob stood.

All of a sudden people started to scream. A huge, brown, hairy monster lurched into the restaurant. Shawn thought it was Big Foot.  Bob reacted quickly. It whipped out its laser gun and shot the Big Foot in its mouth, causing a huge laser burn there.

The hostess freaked out, running around the building, screaming at the top of her lungs. She ran right into the famous tree that grew in the center of the restaurant. Shawn heard a loud crack and then she fell. He wondered if the girl had a concussion.

The Big Foot stomped across the room. When he stomped near the tree, he tripped over the hostess and landed with a monstrous crash.

Sirens sound outside. Ten police officers rush inside. They grabbed Big Foot and the hostess and dragged them out. Shawn thought they were arresting both of them. He was a little surprised that they ignored Bob’s laser gun, but he wasn’t complaining. Maybe they didn’t know what it was.

Bob yelled, “Me! Want! Hamburger!”

The waiter rushed over with someone else’s hamburger. “Here you go, sir. Anything you want, sir.”

Shawn figured that the waiter was scared by the laser gun.

Bob ate with relish. Afterward, they decided to leave the restaurant. However, they forgot to pay. When they walked out, an alarm sounded. The police came back.  Shawn felt like an idiot. Why had he forgotten to pay? Now what was going to happen?

The “Cliffhanger” End.
