The Dragon and the Dog

The dragon guarded her cave. Rene, the dog, watched.

She wondered what the dragon guarded. Rene couldn’t believe how red the dragon’s eyes were.  And the dragon had lots of green scales and ginormous wings.  The dog thought those green scales would be very rough.

Rene smelled flowers. She thought the aroma came from the dragon. She love the smell; it was beautiful. Rene also smelled something very sour coming from the cave.  It was like sour candy. Yum. It smelled good.

The dragon was being really quiet. However, Rene still felt scared. She had to bark. She barked and barked and barked. Rene was a little embarrassed because her bark was all high-pitched and yippy. She had a feeling the dragon could tell she was scared.

Despited the sour smell coming from the cave, there was no sound. Rene really wished she knew what was in the cave. Rene spread her wings and tried to fly into the cave. Just as Rene got to the Dragon, the dragon spread her very large wings and Rene rammed into one.

She fell- splat! Darn that did not work.

Rene decided it was time to dance-it was time for the teleport dance! She wiggled and wiggled and suddenly –pop-she was inside the cave.

The first thing she saw was a pile of red candy. That explained the smell. Rene could not resist. With a happy bark she raced to the pile and devoured a red candy.  Oh my goodness that was sour. She puckered her snout and licked her mouth. Her eyes watered.

Shazam!

All of a sudden Rene felt different. She looked down and saw that she was completely gold. She tried to move and her legs felt so heavy she was stuck. She decided to try again. She lumbered to the pile and managed to eat one more candy.

Shazam!

Rene felt strangely different again. In fact her head bumped into the top of the cave. She was huge. Rene tried to move around to get used to her new body. In the process she faced the cave entrance.

To her surprise, a dragons head was poking in the hole of the cave. She had almost forgotten about the dragon. Despite her new size, she felt fear.  It looked to Rene as if the dragon was angry.

Suddenly the dragon breathed fire.Wow that was hot. Rene felt her hair singe. She howled in pain. Rene decided it was time to dance.  She wiggled and wiggled and wiggled. It was hard to do given her size, but eventually she popped and was outside the cave.

She managed to steal one of the candies. The dragon pursued. Rene tossed the candy into the dragon’s mouth.

Pop!

The dragon turned into a Chupacabra!
