The Dragon and the Mouse

The dragon guarded his cave. Po, the mouse, watched. The dragon was huge, at least twenty times as big as Po! He looked really scary. He was a dark red and he had giant wings. He had to have at least a million spikes. They covered his body- even his face! He looked like a monster hedgehog. The dragon breathed yellow fire. Po thought touching the dragon would be like being spiked by a rose bush. It would really hurt!

The dragon smelled like stinky rotten cheese. She preferred cheese to be fresh and yummy, not rotten like this dragon. The dragon was super noisy. His fire-breathing sounded like a loud wind storm, and he was flapping his wings. Each time he flapped, he would hit the cave and make a loud knocking sound. Suddenly, the dragon flamed a piece of meat and turned it brown. Then, he stopped breathing fire and bit into the meat.

EWW!

Disgusting!

Po thought meat would taste bitter and gross.

Po was ready to find out what the dragon guarded. She came up with a plan. She found a piece of meat from a dead frog and drew a smiley face on it. She hid underneath and scurried to a spot where the dragon could see her. Then, she rolled the piece of meat down the hill. She hoped the dragon would follow it, but he didn’t! Her plan failed. She decided to scurry around to the back of the cave. She found a spot that was almost a hole. She began to dig. Soon she was able to squeeze inside.

The cave was very dark. It took about a half hour for her eyes to adjust. When she could see, she saw blood splattered on the walls.

“Eeeek!!” She scurried away.

She was in another part of the cave where there was no blood. She saw something shiny. She didn’t know what it was, but she thought it might be shiny cheese. She scurried toward the shiny cheese, but when she got there, it wasn’t cheese at all, but it was treasure!

How exciting!!

It filled the whole room.

She saw a basket and quickly loaded it with treasure. She dragged the basket toward the cave entrance. The dragon was still there. She sneaked the cheese past him, but the dragon saw her.

Uh-oh!

The dragon tried to torch her with his flame. He hit the treasure instead.

“Yes!” Po wanted a quick getaway. She rushed to her cell phone and dialed her favorite pilot. The pilot zipped over in his plane and rescued Po. They zoomed off.

The End.
