The Dragon and the Bird

Dragonaire, the dragon, guarded her cave. Pidgey, the bird, watched.  She’d seen this dragon before, but she had no idea what the dragon guarded. She was very curious.

Dragonaire was big, bigger than Pidgey, but not enormous.  She was maybe double Pidgey’s size. She was neon yellow. She had bulging cheeks and large round eyes with a circle around each eye.  Pidgey thought she looked hilarious. Her teeth were round. Dragonaire’s face was green and Pidgey thought  she would feel moist.

The dragon smelled like strawberries.  Pidgey didn’t like the smell of strawberries. They smelled weird! The dragon was making a sound like a burping kitty. She just kept making it. Pidgey knew she made that noise a lot. She made it when she was angry, when she was happy, and sometimes for no reason at all.

In between burps, Dragonaire munched on strawberries. Pidgey thought strawberries tasted sour.  She didn’t like that sour taste.

Pidgey decided to wait till Dragonaire went to sleep. She would sneak in to the cave and see what the dragon guarded. She waited – a long time. Finally, the dragon fell asleep.

She flew to the entrance of the cave. Then she landed and walked in. But as she did, she accidentally stepped on the dragon’s head. The dragon woke up!!

The dragon roared!

“Ah ha! You are after my treasure.” the dragon bellowed. “I’m going to catch you, and cook you alive, and eat you up!”

Uh oh, thought Pidgey. She flew as fast as she could through a tiny hole. The dragon failed to catch her.

Now Pidgey knew that there was treasure in the cave. Pidgey could hear the dragon following her. Then she saw the dragon lumbering near.

Suddenly, a trap door opened in the floor and the dragon fell through. Pidgey rushed to the edge and saw a very strange sight. There were aliens. They grabbed the dragon and all of them disappeared in a blink.

Pidgey decided to check out the dragon’s treasure. She might like a bit of treasure. She flew through the cave and there it was – piles and piles of…Candy!

“Hmmm! Candy. That’s cool!”

Even though Pidgey wanted the candy, she decided not to take it.  That would be stealing, and stealing was wrong. Suddenly, the dragon popped back into the cave.

“There were aliens. One of the them was named Toady Loser! They wanted to abduct me, but I escaped. Now, I’m going to catch you and cook you alive.”

Pidgey flew as fast as she could.  Dragonair quickly made a net to catch her. She swished the net and Pidgey was caught, but there was a hole in the net and Pidgey flew free.

She flew high in the air and dodged Dragonaire who clawed at the sky. Pidgey successfully dodged Dragonaire.

The dragon was tired after all her failure. She flew away again. This time she flew so fast that the bird couldn’t follow her. Pidgey gave up and decided it was time to go home.

The End.
