The Dragon and Harry Potter

The dragon guarded their cave. Harry Potter watched. He had heard of this dragon, but he had never met them. Harry wondered what the dragon guarded. He had to know.

Harry had never seen a dragon so big, and he had seen plenty of dragons before. The dragon’s body was neon green and their wings were yellow! The dragon had teeth that looked as if they were as sharp as a dagger. The dragon’s scales looked as slimy as slugs.

The dragon had a very interesting smell. It was almost a gooey odor. On his journey, about thirty miles back, Harry had come across a small gold log that had smelled exactly the same. Hmmm… maybe that gold log actually came from here. Maybe the dragon had flung it somehow or lost it. The smell had to be a clue.

Suddenly the dragon roared like a lion. Uh-oh, thought Harry. I think the dragon is roaring at me! He panicked.

The dragon chomped down on a large piece of gold. For a moment, Harry forgot about his panic. Well that explained why the dragon smelled like gold! Harry couldn’t believe it. Those were some strong teeth to be able to chew up metal like that. Harry could never do that. He thought it would taste yucky—like metal. Not a natural thing to eat at all!

Once Harry got over the dragon’s liking for gold as a snack, he remembered he was in a panic. He sprinted to the nearby forest and yelled for his friend, Tanyan the Cat.

“Help, Tanyan!”

Tanyan dropped from a vine to the ground. He held a blue-flaming sword and wore a black hat.

Harry asked Tanyan to distract the dragon. “I’ll run inside the cave when you do.”

Of course Tanyan helped. He rushed the dragon, waving his blue-flaming sword. “Aiiieeeee!”

Meanwhile, Harry ran for the cave.

But the dragon saw both of them. They flamed Harry and Tanyan who had to retreat behind a large rock. Darn!

“Let’s fight the dragon,” said Tanyan.

“Okay,” said Harry Potter.

They charged the dragon, Harry throwing spells and Tanyan wielding his blue-flaming sword. But the dragon was impervious to the spells and they breathed flame back, making the sword’s own blue flame go out.

Harry and Tanyan beat a hasty retreat back to the rock.

Next, Harry and Tanyan picked up the items they needed for an invisibility potion. Fortunately, there were a number of great magical ingredients nearby. They quickly created the potion and swallowed it.

BOOM!

They were invisible.

Harry and Tanyan snuck past the dragon, being careful not to be heard. They went into the cave. It was as dark as night, but all of a sudden, torches flickered on and lit the place.

Harry and Tanyan kept creeping further into the cave. They were pretty sure it was empty. As they went deeper in, the torches became smaller and smaller making it darker and darker.

Just then, Harry noticed that Tanyan’s hat was visible again. And then he could see all of Tanyan! Their potion had stopped working. Now when Harry looked down, he saw his hands and his body too. And he saw all of Tanyan.

The dragon arrived and, wow, did they roar!

Harry and Tanyan would have to be fast! They ran further into the cave. That’s when they saw the gold. So much gold! Too much to carry.

Harry raised his wand, and shouted, “Wingardium Leviosa!” The gold slowly rose in the air. He would take all the treasure!

“Tanyan, make a trap!” Harry yelled.

Tanyan was very good at traps. He quickly devised one and then made the spell. He was the fastest wizard-cat in the galaxy.

When the dragon charged at them, they fell straight into the trap.

“Woo-hoo!” Harry yelled.

Harry and Tanyan began to party. They did a victory dance. They whooped.

But then, the dragon roared, and they rose straight out of the trap.

“Uh-oh,” said Harry. They’ve escaped!

But, the dragon introduced themself as “It,” and they said, “I want to party too! But I do need to guard my gold. Maybe we can share it.” They broke the gold into many little pieces and gave some to Harry and some to Tanyan. “Now… let’s party!”

They all had lots of fun together…but… suddenly, the dragon roared again. And then the dragon toasted Harry’s wand and set Tanyan’s tail on fire.

“Ho-ho!” yelled the dragon. “Gotcha! It was my secret plan to stop you by making you think I was your friend.”

Harry pulled out his second wand. He yelled for the phoenix, another friend, to arrive. And woo-hoo… the phoenix did arrive.

Harry threw his “ridiculous” spell which made the dragon look so funny, and then he hit the dragon with a second spell that made their wings not work properly anymore.

The phoenix landed on the dragon’s tail and bit it. The dragon screeched.

Harry, with the gold still levitated, Tanyan, and the phoenix ran for the cave entrance. They exploded out of it and kept on running.

“Whew!” Harry yelled. “We did it… we stole the gold and escaped from the dragon…”

…Or did they?

The “Cliffhanger” End.
